HIPAA Timetables

Currently, the HIPAA compliance timetables are as follows:

• Privacy regulations must be implemented by April 2003

• Administrative simplification standards for electronic transactions and code sets have been scheduled for implementation by October 2002. However, health care providers are entitled to a one-year extension to comply (until October 2003) if they formally file for the extension.
